What is the Insulin Fasting Test?
Fasting Insulin measures the amount of insulin your pancreas produces in the fasting state. Even before blood sugar rises, insulin levels can become abnormally high — a condition called insulin resistance. This is the earliest detectable stage of Type 2 diabetes and is central to PCOD, metabolic syndrome, and obesity. Catching insulin resistance early allows intervention before diabetes develops.
Why Should You Take This Test?
Identifies insulin resistance before diabetes develops. Early intervention with diet and exercise can prevent progression to type 2 diabetes.
Who Should Get Tested?
PCOD/PCOS Patients
Insulin resistance is a core driver of PCOD.
Overweight with Normal FBS
Insulin rises before blood sugar does.
Acanthosis Nigricans
Dark, velvety skin patches indicate insulin resistance.
Family History of Diabetes
Early detection of insulin resistance.
